See The Louvre: 10 Ways To Travel Without Leaving Your Home

Everyone has paused their travel plans during the coronavirus.

Road trips are common.

Even if you are flying, it is probably limited.

That is ok.

We will travel again.

It is a good time to think about your future trips though.

Brainstorming future trips is not all you can do during this period.

There are things you can do to travel without leaving your house.

Here are ten activities that will kill your wanderlust during the coronavirus.

10 Things You Can Do To Travel Without Leaving The House

1. Discover a museum

From the Guggenheim Museum in New York City to the Louvre in Paris, there are many museums available on the Google Arts & Culture platform.

Check them out here.

2. Take a ride at Disney

While Disney parks around the world are closed, you can take a virtual ride.

Just type “virtual Disney rides” in a search engine.

3. Explore parks and other attractions online

You can explore national parks like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone National Park.

You can also explore other attractions such as the Statue of Liberty or Alcatraz at the Google Arts and Culture Center mentioned earlier.

Check them out here.

4. Visit a botanical garden

Some botanical gardens like the United States Botanic Garden in Washington, D.C. offer virtual tours.

Take a virtual tour here.

5. Read a book

Books can transport you to new and familiar places.

Here is a list of the best books about travel:

  • “The Alchemist”
  • “On The Road”
  • “Love With A Chance Of Drowning”
  • “How To Travel The World On $50 A Day”
  • “Vagabonding”

6. Watch a movie

During these stressful times, maybe you just want to relax and stream a good movie about travel.

Here are some good picks:

  • “Eat, Pray, Love”
  • “Point Break”
  • “Mamma Mia”
  • “Catch Me If You Can”
  • “Crazy Rich Asians”
  • “Up In The Air”

7. Cook an international meal or take a cooking class

Food is one of the things that people enjoy most about travel.

Who can separate travel from food?

What better way to experience a country’s cuisine than cooking a meal?

If you want to take a class, there are several international cooking classes on the internet.

You can probably find some free ones on YouTube.

8. Watch a YouTube Channel

There are great YouTube channels on travel out there.

Here is a list of some:

  • “Expert Vagabond”
  • “Fun For Louis”
  • “Vagabrothers”
  • “Hopscotch The Globe”

If you love airline reviews (like me), here are the top YouTube channels on that too:

  • “Sam Chui”
  • “When I Travel The World”
  • “Simply Aviation”

I am an AvGeek.

An AvGeek or “aviation geek” is a person who is passionate about all things aviation.

I think everyone should be an AvGeek.

9. Learn a new language

What better time to brush up on a foreign language?

You can try the popular app Duolingo.

There are even free classes online.

Swagbucks even has an offer for Babel where you get two months free and a small profit.

10. Watch television

Television, like books and movies, is another great way to travel without leaving the house.

There is the Travel Channel and Discovery.

I love those.

I also love my simple “House Hunters International” on HGTV.

The regular “House Hunters” is good for seeing different U.S. cities too.

I am a big HGTV fan.

You can even stream Anthony Bourdain show “Parts Unknown” on certain streaming services like Netflix.

Summary

I am sure everyone misses travel.

I assume you even miss other activities.

We will do all these things again.

While people are traveling less during the coronavirus, you can try one of these activities while you are stuck in the house.

I am excited to try some of these myself.

Let me know if any of these activities stand out.

Hope you and your family are well.

    1. Yes, television is the first one everyone does. I think the virtual museums and Disney rides are different. It is a good time to discover a new YouTube channel too.

  1. I’ve definitely been watching more Youtube since quarantine started. I love being able to find new channels and see what other people are doing during this time.

    1. I love the “Simply Aviation” channel, but I love flight reviews. Most people love to share what they are doing during social distancing. When you are stuck in the house, you can wonder what is going on. Some of the YouTubers I follow have a live happy hour during COVID-19. The YouTube Channels I have in the post are the most popular ones and will discuss the current situation.

  2. Thanks – these are awesome tips! Didn’t know you could visit Disney online…will give it a try

    1. Thanks Carrie. You can do a Disney virtual ride. Just type “virtual Disney ride” in search engine. I have been to the sites but have not done it yet. It sounds fun.

  3. I will immediately clutch your rss feed as I can not to find your e-mail subscription link or e-newsletter service.
Do you have any? Please allow me know in order that I could subscribe.
    Thanks.
