Hotel promotions can earn you lots of points.
If you are staying at a hotel, you are leaving money on the table if you are not registered for one.
Hotel chains offer new promotions every couple months.
That means most chains will always have an ongoing promotion.
You must register for.promotions before you stay at a hotel.
Some have a deadline to register by though this one doesn’t.
Hilton is pretty consistent in terms of promotions.
Some chains will skip a period like Marriott and Hyatt.
Hilton points are some of the easiest points to earn too.

I like to register for hotel promotions when they come out, so that I don’t forget later.
Hilton Power Up Promotion
The promotion is called “Power Up” again.
With this offer, you earn 2500 points per stay.
A stay is considered check in to check out.
So, a stay could be an overnight stay, or a couple days.
Register for the Hilton “Power Up” promotion here.
The promotion runs from September 3, 2024 to December 31, 2024.
You must register for this promotion prior to your stay.
You will receive your points for the promotion as long as you are registered before you check in.
I have booked a stay, and registered for the promotion at the last minute.
Who Is This Promotion For?
People who make shorter stays benefit from this promotion.
If you stayed one day, you would earn 2500 points.
If you stayed a week, you would earn the same 2500 points.
So, again, this promotion benefits people who do short stays, especially overnight ones.
Hilton usually has a double points promotion during the year.
That promotion benefits people who do longer stays.
That was their last promotion.
In any case, earning any points is better than not earning points at all if your stay is longer.
Because I like to travel frequently, I usually do a lot of short stays.
So, this promotion benefits me.
Can you book a 5 day trip as separate one night stays at the same hotel?
I am not sure if they will give you points for a five night stay as separate one night stays.
You can look it up on reddit.
I think the hotel can keep you in the same room though.
Again, I am not sure if this will work in terms of points though.
I don’t want anyone to get in trouble.
How Many Points Can You Earn With This Promotion?
There are a couple basic ways to earn Hilton points.
You can:
- Stay at a hotel (10 points per dollar except at Home 2 Suites and Tru where you will earn 5 points per dollar)
- Have elite status (12-20 points per dollar)
- Have a Hilton credit card (7-14 points)
So, how much would you earn for your stay?
Let’s say you booked a $200 Hilton hotel overnight.
As a Hilton honors member you would earn 10 points per dollar at every brand except.Home 2 Suites and Tru.
I assume you are not staying at the later brands.
That would be 2000 points.
Then, if you had Hilton Gold status, you would earn an additional 18 points per dollar or 3600 points.
Then, with the promotion, you earn 2500 points.
That is a total of 8100 points.
That is pretty good for an overnight stay.
If you had the Hilton Surpass card that would be an additional 12 points per dollar or 2400 points.
Most people who have Gold status have it because of the Hilton Surpass credit card.
It gives you Gold status just for having the credit card.
That makes the total for your overnight stay 10,500 points.
You earned 40 points per dollar as a Hilton Gold with the Surpass card and 2500 for the promotion.
I think you can see why Hilton points are so easy to earn
Don’t forget, in addition to earning Hilton points on your hotel stay, you can earn airline miles or cash back for going through a shopping portal.
For instance, if you went through TopCashback right now, you would get 4% back.
On your $200 stay, that would be $8.
That doesn’t seem like a lot, but over time with other hotel stays, that adds up..
I don’t think Hilton is on any airline portal like American or United Airlines.
A lot of the other chains like Marriott and IHG are though.
So, when staying at one of those chains, it may be more beneficial to go through an airline portal.
Use cash backmonitor.com to see if a cash back or airline portal is the better value.
Remember, with hotels, you can use American Express and Chase credit card offers too.
There is usually always an American Express card offer for $50 back at Hilton.

I just earned 2500 points for my recent overnight stay at the Doubletree Downtown Los Angelas.
I would register for this promotion as soon as possible.
If you are staying at a chain besides Hilton, check to see if they have a current promotion.
Again, hotel promotions will earn you lots of points.
