Hilton’s “Double Your Stay” Promotion: Double Points On All Stays

Hotel promotions can earn you lots of points over time.

As usual, if you are staying at a hotel, and not registered for a promotion, you are leaving money on the table.

Most hotel chains have a new promotion every couple months.

So, more than likely, if you are not staying at Hilton, your favorite chain will have promotion too.

If you are staying at another chain, make sure to google if they currently have a promotion.

I try to keep an up to date list of all the promotions in one place,

I am currently updating it.

You must register for each promotion before you stay.

Some have deadlines after which you cannot register.

This one doesn’t though.

Some chains do not always have a promotion each quarter, like Marriot or Hyatt.

They only have promotions sometimes.

Hilton always has a promotion.

Hilton points are pretty simple to earn too.

Here is a full explanation of Hilton’s current “Double Your Stay” promotion.

Make sure to register.

I like to register when I first find out about promotions, so I don’t forget.

Hilton’s “Double Your Stay” Promotion

With Hilton’s winter promotion, you earn double points on all stays during the promotion period.

This period goes from January 1 to April 30, 2025.

Again, you must be registered before your stay.

Here is where you can register for Hilton’s “Double Your Stay promotion.

There is no deadline to register as long as you are in the promotion period.

I have booked a hotel before registering for these kinds of promotions.

I just make sure to register before I check in.

There is no limit to how many bonus points you can earn with the promotion either.

Award stays are eligible for this promotion too.

So, your incidentals will count too although I know that will probably be small.

If using cash/points, like I do sometimes, the cash portion will earn double your points.

Who Is This Promotion For?

The last Hilton promotion earned 2500 points per stay.

It benefited people who did shorter stays.

I did a couple short stays during the fall.

When I fly each month, I make a lot of short stays.

However, this promotion benefits people who do longer and more expensive stays.

Depending on how much your short stay is, it can benefit you too.

Here is the difference for people who do short stays between this promotion and the last one.

With this promotion, if you had a $150 base hotel rate, you would earn an extra 1500 points.

With the last promotion, you would have earned an extra 2500 points with your base $150 spend.

That is a very small difference.

That is still better than nothing for people who do short stays too.

If you are just doing an award stay, only incidentals will count again.

So, a promotion that gave you 2500 points for award stays would have been better.

I think most people will benefit from this promotion although again longer and more expensive stays will earn more points.

Here is where you can register for the promotion again.

How Many Points Can You Earn With This Promotion?

Hilton San Francisco lobby photo by Tracy Nicole

At most Hilton brands, you earn 10 points per dollar except Tru by
Hilton and Home2 Suites.

At both those brands, you earn 5 points per dollar.

So, the double points would give you an additional 10 points at most brands.

If you had Gold status, you would earn an additional 8 points per dollar.

If you had the American Express Hilton Surpass card, you would earn another 12 points per dollar.

So, a Hilton Gold with the Surpass card would earn 40 points per dollars if they paid with the card.

For a $150 base stay, that would be 6000 points.

I say a Hilton Gold who had a Surpass card because most people who have Hilton Gold status have it through the American Express Hilton Surpass card.

The card is probably the best Hilton card for most people as it gives $200 in credits to cover the $150 fee.

Hilton has three personal cards with American Express:

  • The American Express Hilton card with no fee
  • The American Express Hilton Surpass card with a $150 fee
  • The American Express Aspire card with a $550 fee

There is also a Hilton Business card with a $195 fee.

That one gives you $250 in credits.

Again, the $150 Surpass card is probably the best card for most people.

As long as you stay at Hilton hotels each quarter, you get the $200 credit.

The card will give you Gold status with free breakfast.

In terms of points with the promotion again, you would earn even more points if you were a Diamond member with the Aspire card.

The American Express Hilton Aspire card gives automatic Diamond status just for having the card.

It does come with a $550 fee that not everyone will like though.

Just know that even credit cards with high fees like that can give you enough credits to cover the fee of the card.

Summary

Hilton’s first promotion of 2025 is called “Double Your Stay”.

You earn double points on all stays, including award stays.

I would register for this promotion as soon as possible if you think you will be staying at a Hilton during the time period.

Again, I like to register for promotions as soon as I know about them, so I don’t forget.

If you are staying at another chain, make sure to find out if they have a current promotion.

Over time, hotel promotions will earn you a lot of points.

So, don’t leave money on the table again.

Make sure to earn cash back or airline miles for your hotel stay too.
